I've had this filter on my 55gallon for over a year now with out any issues at all. been an awesome filter... til now. So annoying in fact I've unplugged it and the AC filter is running solo currently. I did a normal water change today and then after plugging the emp 400 back in and powering up, it continued to do a buzzing/grinding type sound. Actually it's more of a vibration sound, ya know? If I pull the intake up a bit off of the impeller it dies down, but as soon as I put it back to it's proper place it gets going again making that god awful sound. It's not really loud at all honestly. It's a real faint vibrating/buzzing/grinding sound that is just audible enough for you not to ignore and drive you freaking nuts at the same time.
Has anyone encountered this before? I looked at the impeller and housing and everything looks fine. My magnum 350 went out on that tank about a month ago and now this.. both were about a year old. I guess you get what you pay for but come on man, cut a guy some slack
