Hey guys i recently bought two emperor 400's for a 72 gallon bowfront i am setting up within the week, im keeping native fish and planting it with natural drift wood.
Im looking for ideas for good filter media, i have read alot about cutting the carbon out of the sponge that comes with the filter and putting a pad in there, i was also thinking about adding filter floss to the empty gray trays that it comes with. I'd rather not use carbon because it will be a planted natural type tank. what suggestions do you guys have and what do you guys use for ? thanks alot!

I just use the pads with the carbon and nothing else. I frequently rinse the pads and put them back.

I use 4 filter pads in mine, I just leave in the activated charcoal and in about a month it is spent anyhow and just acts as bio media.
