Ok, my Emperor 400 has a constant buzzing noise. Is the impellor and shaft supposed to wobble in the case at all? I can move it around 360 degrees. Any idea what the buzzing souns is coming from. The shaft doesnt look worn and the impeller blades are not broken. And the noise gets real loud when I reduce flow. :swear: :swear: This peice of jusnk is on a 10 gallon feeder tank so its not mandatory but I just hate the sound. It makes my teeth itch!!

Could be you got sand or something in it. Take the filter out and hold it upside down over a sink and spray some water up into the shaft to remove anything that might be stuck up there. Use the included brush up in there also.

Mine makes a grinding sound too. I've tried everything Emperor 400's are just pieces of shiitt....
no there not if you clean them and buy the parts it rounds nice and the reson its making that grinding sound is because you have sand in it.....

I second that. It's sand or maybe even a small piece of gravel. You got to thoroughly clean it, and I usually leave it at the fastest or second fastest flow level.

Hmmm... it stops making the noise if I unplug it for a minute then plug it back in. Makes the noise right after I lower the flow. I increase the flow and the noise gets a little quieter. Oh well, I guess I will keep it on high. Thaks for the input. By the way, do you keep your spraybars pointing downward or straight out?
