Emperor 400 or Aquaclear 110?

Which of these do you prefer and why?

I prefer the AC110 due to the fact the sponger can be rinsed and reused for several months before they have to be replaced. The Emperor used cartridges so they nickel and dime you a lot more than the AC110 ever will.

Aquaclear. Emperors may have once been superior but since they were redesigned years ago as a cheaper unit they can no longer compete quality wise. I'm sure some of the old units are still kickin though!

I have only used aqua clear, great filter, good quality, never had problems

It's not a myth believe me. But I do know there are other good HOB out there. But in my opinion AC's are a step above them. The only HOB I would say that truly challenge or was even better than the AC's was the old Supreme filters. I knew a guy that was still running his and they have to be 30 plus years old.

I have had many hob filters and will never buy anything other then an ac filter hands down

My aquaclear 500 (since renamed 110) is still going strong. I bought it brand new... in 1995. I still have every aquaclear HOB that I ever bought. Only ever changed a couple rings and one motor between them all.

If we are considering other filters I like the aqueon quiet flow 55/75.
