Has anyone bought a new emp 400 lately ? my impeler was rattling bad , so i called marineland , they sent me new parts , by the time i got them , the orig had quieted down . Any way i put in the new parts and that was louder than when i fist started it up! so i put the org one back in , they are sending me another . sorry to babble ,

has any else had this happen with a new one?

I bought one a few months ago and didn't have a problem you may have got a bad one. Id take it back were you got it anf get another one.

bought it online, they r sending me replacement parts again( 2nd time) if that doesnt work they will send me a new filter

I have about 6 400's. I have had them for many years. I would get what free parts you can get and keep them. All of mine have made noise when you first start them up and then they quiet down and you can't hear nothing but water trickle. They might do it when you take them apart to clean them. Its just the impeller seating properly. It used to mention that years ago in the instructions. I only take out the spray bars to clean usually. I love mine and made clam shells to put cheap mechanical filter in instead of buying the cartridges. Out of all the years I've been using all of them I have replaced 2 impellars. One for a chipped magnet that through it off and one that hade the bottom rubber stopper fall off.

i just got 2 emp 400s in the mail and both perform flawlessly right out the box.
