Hi guys, I have 2 emperors that i was thinking of using for my spare 125 g. Is that enough filtration or would i need to add another one or another type of filter?

Thanks

I depends on stock but I would definitely add another one regardless. Also I am partial toward the Aquaclear power filter.

Yep, it all depends on how many/what size fish you plan to have in the tank.

I like my Emperor 400 for a hob... but I have never tried an Aquaclear... and only use the Emperor in an emergence (Add ammo chips and run it temporarily)

I am looking at getting two to five fish. All central American cichlids. Maybe some Amphilophus and Vieja species. Not sure on the stock yet but nothing over 14 inches max.

If you like HOB filters and the Emperor 400 I would recommend sticking with them. They are so much easier to service than a canister filter. The back of my tank isn't covered so I think HOBs look tacky on my tank. Personally I prefer a sump.

I agree that the HOB filters are easier in my experience. I just hope three emperor 400's do a great job in keeping my 125 crystal clear and clean.

With some good flow from a powerhead in corners, i'm sure they will do fine.

throw a sponge filter on the powerheads, more filtration AND flow
