Where the Parachromis roam...
Has anyone ever owned one of these guys??If so are they aggressive??I know they grow huge, but what is thier growth rate??The LFS sales manager said that they had the same growth rate as a Pacu for a cichlid,is this true??Do any of you guys have pic's,they would be much appreciated.:headbang2

Yep...Boulengerochromis microlepis is an African cichlid from Lake tanganyika. :)

I know they can get 2-4 ft.... I will look up some info for you..

I had posted this in the S.A.+C.A. cichlid section and was informed that this is the proper section. So what can you guys tell me about this fish??How big do they get??How aggressive are they and can they be acclimated to freshwater??:headbang2

You need a massive custom tank for these guys.... like 8'-10' long x 4' wide plywood deal. And that's still too small imo.

Unlike large new world stuff, they will not be content sitting in one corner, defending a territory. They open space to swim.

If you want large predators, try out the Malawi predators... Nimbochromis, Champsochromis, Tyrannochromis, Exochromis, Buccochromis. Lots of action, but at a reasonable size (12"-15") so you can realistically keep them in a large standard glass tank.
