watched the "Jewels of the Rift" today. anyone ever keep emperors? if they have any luck keeping them. they're so pretty.

A few locals have them or have kept them... they get massive and amazing looking!

I've been thinking of making an african themed tank. want a couple frontosas for it. emperor's would be cool but got to be realistic lol

Oooh!!! Get a frontosa colony! Those are always soooo cool and they can make you lots of money lol

I know theres some people on MFK who keep emperors...they're awesome but like cant009 said, they get huge. You would need a pool lol Thats a good show too

oh that would be really cool! Could you post some pics if you get them in? How big are they going to be when you get them?

I've kept them several times and they are among my favorite cichlids. Awesome personalities and great non-picky eaters. The problem I've always run into is that after 6months or so they are 16-17" and start to get aggressive towards tank mates. I'll most likely try them again at some point.
