hi all
need some info from those who keep or have kept them with some pics if possible. i'm thinkin of getting some.
any info on them will be greatly appreciated..
will they go along with peacock bass OK ?

thanks

Hope you have ]V[onster-size tanks. The peacocks alone need alot of space. But, if you want to try adding Emperor cichlids (Boulengerochromis microlepis) to the comm, you're going to need a ton more space to house these 30 inchers.

Keeping the 2 species together will be iffy at best. My emperors killed off their tankmates once they started reaching maturity. Then, the alpha-male killed off the 3 males. Next, the less mature females. And, finally, the 3-female harem he was sharing a 900 gal with for a year and a half. They'd all only reached the 18-20" mark by this time.

The sub-adults were in a 900 gal. The grow-outs were in a 450 gal with other larger african cichlids.

they are mouthbrooders

They would be a good pond fish....

Boulengerochromis microlepis "Giant African Cichlid"
these guys look cool and get like 20inches plus
has anyone ever kept any?
and does any one know the growth rate and if they r agressive or not?
and if any one has kept them can u post up pics of yours

Read Oddballs trails.

You would need a pretty large tank, they reach well over 20 inches. They can be agressive and will eat tankmates. Better said in the reads above.
