Hey everyone - been a while. Hope all is well with everyone.

Long story short - had a disaster in my 150, heat was turned off in my home since I was moving & temp dropped in my 150. Lost everything except for my 2 Jacks. I didn't find out until I stopped in to my old house - since I moved into a small apt & couldn't bring the 150 with me.

So the 2 Jacks are slowly recooping in a 20 at the moment - hopefully they survive the night.

So to say the least, I've been upset all day. I lost my beloved Con & BP. That was the hardest hit.

So I currently have an empty 150. The Jacks will probably go into a 55 or 72 by themselves if they survive. I don't want tetras, livebearers, etc.
Also no africans.

Those who know me know I keep aggressive fish & usually end up overstocking. I have an external sump.

Right now I'm thinking of getting a juvie silver arowana - and upgrading to a 300 or so in a year. But I also want some ideas of cichlids species for the tank as well. I've always had an interest in Midas & Devils - but since my only real fish store anymore is Petsmart/Petco - they don't keep pure lines. Also very interested in Flowerhorns.

Any species ideas would be appriciated.

I'm confused, you can't have the 150g in your small apt, but you'll be able to fit a 300g in a year? A silver aro is not going to last a year in a 150g, where ever you are planning on keeping this 150g.

I see, anyhow assuming your 150g has a footprint of either 48x24" or 72x18" a silver aro will be right in that tank upto about 18". Considering silver aros grow 1-1.5" per month on average, a 7-8" juvi will be 18" in 6-10 months. You could get a couple more months by starting with a baby aro, but they are bit of a challenge to raise.

Sorry for your loss. Jacks have always been extremely hardy in my tanks so hopefully they pull through for you.

Thanks guys. It was quite a heartbreaking experience. I was thinking about a Flowerhorn. I've always wanted one - but never had the correct stock to house one

I like Texas -
I'm also looking at Umbee, Jags, Frontasa, Flowerhorns, Red Devils, Midas. Not all together of course.

I know that all of these are aggressive - but do you think any of them could be housed togther? I figure if they are all equally aggressive, it may be okay. I obviously don't mean them all - just a select few.
