So basicay what I want to do is, put a sterlite bin inside of another aenclosure so both snakes can share the same heat pad and cannot come into contact with each other.

The only reason why I want to do this is because I ordered a heat pad and since I live in canada, its going to take double the time to get here:irked:

Thanks

You wanna put your new snake with your old one... I would be leery about that b/c of quarantine issues. And if the one on the ouside tip the others enclosure that could be bad.

I have never seen this done before. The only problem you may have is the sterilite bin will heat up a lot faster then the cage. If it is for a short time make sure you check the temps and it may work. Also if you plan on using a sterilite bin w/ a heat pad in the future thermostats should be used. Heat pads will heat up the sterilite bin way to much.

I took a picture of what I want to do.

As you can see the bin will share the heat pad with the snake on the ouside of it. I wil have bedding seperating the bin and the heat pad. If it does get to hot inside the bin, I will simply slide it back and forth to get the tempurature I want. In concept, neither of the snakes will come into contact with one another.

This will be temporary until I finish the snakes new encclosure :) I wil have an instructional thread on it up soon ;)

I don't see why not...measure the temps first and check for potential melting and you are good to go.

i disagree, i have a big snake rack that uses 15q sterilie bins and heat cable underneath them, i have it heated at 96f and in the 5 years i've had it never had any problem.

BUT, if the heating device is not hooked up to a temperature controller..yes, it can definitely cause problems with plastic bins

. As for putting a heating pad ON a sterlite container I would say that may = BIG FAIL. They're not made for dealing with heat.
