Is there a way to encourage males to get bigger nuchal humps or a hump at all? Would raising it with more males then females make any difference? Or strictly an all male tank? Or the fish forming a pair and proving his dominance in the tank? Or is a nuchal hump something most males get no matter what?

I've always wondered this and have never found answers online so was wondering what your guys thoughts were. Thanks

Nuchal humps from my understanding relate to dominance more than anything. In theory, the way to encourage a nuchal hump would be to keep the male fish with other, smaller fish of the same or similar species, so he could boss the others around.

Give him a mirror and watch it grow. lol Seriously, dominant males will get super-dominant when they see another equally sized fish of their own species

There's also a food out there called "Humpy Head" you could try it out

From keeping many amphs and flowerhorns I've noted the following:

#1. The size potential of the hump is genetic
#2. A good diet and clean water will optimize it (I fed humpy head before...nothing special)
#3. A mirror can help along with being the dominant fish in a tank
#4. Like Duanes said they can get bigger or smaller over time
