So a while ago I stumbled on this book of oddball fish online and I was wondering if anybody owned a copy of it. I might want to buy the book, but at that price I would like to hear some stuff about it first.

Normally if it's an expensive book such as Dr. Axelrod's Atlas, I will try to search on megaupload for it to sample it and decide if it's worth it.

So does anybody own this book, or has anybody here read it? What is it like?

Never heard of it, but it looks good. I'm going to keep my eye on this thread - I might end up wanting a copy, too.

Own this book, not bad but it seems as if it was never proofread. Many spelling errors and mistakes in info. Could have more fish and info on them for the price, but im still glad i bought it, paid over $75 i believe.

Is it more informative than Dr. Axelrod's Atlas? I know with Axelrod's full sized atlas I was disappointed on the lack of information of fish. Also, the payara section had the sizes wrong.

Do they actually write about the fish and the habitats in the book?

hope that one would be on sale on one of our book stores.

It doesn't give much on habits, i guess the bottom line is that if i needed to find something out about a fish I'd go straight to Google. All in all its well made aside from the spelling and info errors, lots of good photos, looks great on the coffee table.

Unless I come across it cheaper at a flea market or there are no other books about oddball fish I think I might have to pass on this one. I rely way to much on the information from the books lol.

Thanks for the quick response BTW!

I wouldn't rely too much on them. Their information is usually outdated and the internet offers day-today experiences on the fish you are interested in.
