P.A.
My ray has recently started eating.. and a lot! thank goodness lol.. I have been keeping the lights off because of it's stress level. I went to feed it a worm for the third time today and noticed the back of its tail has been bitten off or is missing all the way shy of the barb.. so it looks like a dagger sticking straight out of the back. IDK how its missing.. question is.. if one of the fish bit the tail off are they going to die or show signs they bit it off.. since I heard the ray's poison is in it's tail? the barb has been exposed since I got the ray, AS puts foam on it so it will not puncture the shipping bag. Also if the tail has been bit off will the water be poisonous an harmful to my bare hand? water changes and such..

All these views and no one has said anything on this for me lol

A rays poison is in a sheath that normally covers the barb, not in the tail itself. Even if the sheath is missing on the barb the poison won't effect your water.

The main concern should be who bit your rays tail off, what other fish do you have in the tank with the ray?

+1...the tail will heal, but not grow back.

I have two discus in with him. It wont grow back!!! SOB

mine are about an inch right now.. butu i'll keep an eye out

it happened to mine as well. i got my motoro with silveraro and no other fish. it might be fungus????? i did 50% waterchanged and added salt. now, he is back to normal but his tail is half the size.

Well it was only a day or two after I got her. Maybe it was.. stinks the tail is gone though
