How can you tell the difference between the variation of "Tikinso Guinea", "Volta River" and "Nigeria" of the ones Toyin sells?

I have some endli endli from another vendor so how can I tell which variation is the ones I have by matching the variation discriptions above?

you should take a look at Infblue's threads... he has most of the varients from Toyin. here are a few links.

it very difficult to describe the different varients mainly due to the fact that alot of them vary from specimen to specimen. but generally speaking...

"voltas" = less contrast on stripes to base color (sorta washed out looking)

"Tikinso Guinea" = not really that familiar with this one :(

"nigerian" = see the link above... my specimen had a narrower head shape and more contrasting stripes. nice markings and colors particularly in the pectoral fins.

ps... post some pics of your endlis and have the experts take a guess :)

Great info. Thanks. Is there also a "chad" variant? Below are the three guys I have. Let me know which variant are they,

Edit: There are some in Chad but I think they are in a no collect lake so unless these have been in captivity for a few years they are not from Chad...

How big are they? With the pattern they are showing I would almost say they are farm bred ones. This is one of my little farm bred ones

haha thanks for the plug Ray! but none of mine that you linked are P. endli endli (or purely P. endli. endli), so i say you actually have more endli variants from Toyin than me :D The only variant i've gotten from Toyin is one from South Volta. i have some suspected Guinea, but since i didn't get those from Toyin, it's hard to be 100% sure.

Scorponok, in addition to what xrayz described, i think the Nigerian has a narrower body than Guinea, although i can't say with 100% certainty that this is always true. Anyway, yours should be farm bred.

most of the wild caught have very clean vertical barring where as the farmed ones seem to have very distorted barring. Same thing also happens with the farm bred Delhezis...
