Hi, I'm wondering if an endli would do well in a planted tank. Right now it's still 4 inches, but will it uproot plants when it gets bigger?

From experience, mine buries itself regularly and would probably uproot plants if I had them in the tank. So I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be fixing your plants regularly or if they are well-rooted.

My polys love amazon swords, lays in them and under them all the time. I've never had a single plant uprooted, nice hiding spots, and just looks nice. I have 5 swords in my tank with 5 polys, 2 6.5" Buettekoferi, 8" Palmas Polli, 10" Del, 12" Ansorgii, never had any plants uprooted from digging. Get plants with strong root systems like swords, takes alot of effort to get them uprooted.

I've seen some nice planted tanks with Polys in them, but I've alway find my Polys like to bury themselve. I've tried keeping plants in with them, but the always find a way to uproot them. I've tried surrounding the base of the plant with big rocks and they seem to manage to knock them out.

Yeah its not like they dig them up,its more they disturb the plants and whatever is round them when they try and bury themselves but it can work.

Based on experience, what I did was place large flat stones/rocks to the corners or places where I had my plants. Placing them behind large pieces of driftwood also helps them from getting uprooted by your endlis. Just make sure that the stuff you use to naturally protect your plants won't hurt your endli when it accidentally bumps into them.

i have had my polys with amazon swards for the best results. everything else tends to get uprooted. i think they like to lay in them instead of trying to get through the roots. my endli would go in front or on the other side of the tank from them to bury itself.
