IMG_2054.JPG IMG_2057.JPG I ve recently notice my Endlicheris body has seemed to bend or poke out somewhat although his stomach remains flat with no curvature. He was not purchased like this and I maintain great water quality in my 125 which is understocked with 4 polypterus and about 15 cichlids which aren't of the large breeds. I m not sure if it's from a more serious issue or if it's from his growth and aggressive eating as he was the smallest out of all by many inches but has caught the other 3 up.

His mobility and activity amounts are the same as before and he's actually more aggressive now that he's the same size as the others and doesn't back away during feeding time.

As long as it's eating well...wouldn't worry. No injury over the bend so maybe something has acquired rather than injury.

Feed a good diet and keep an eye on it.

IMG_2061.JPG IMG_2062.JPG Here's a photo with him still.

Best question is with issues like this what are options for aiding in recovery. I practice regular water changes and I feed a wide variety of good quality food along with talapia.

Not much. As this is likely something acquired but not due to lacking something.

Nothing required to aid in recovery.

Ok - so then my only remaining question is how many cases or ppl reading this thread have had a similarly issue that went away in time and didn't result in death ? I'm fairly taken with my Endlicheri as I am with them all but I ve had a ruff start from the day I got him so he's required more love and care since day 1 and I think it's the reason we ve bonded quicker and he trusts me more than the others as they still from time to time will dart off when I'm get up to the tank to look in where as he will sit there and relax and he will also let me handle him although I don't try to very much.

Happens with cb endli....but seen more with senegalus.

But it should be fine. Common problem with these kind of fish with a kink in its spine is make sure the fish doesn't over eat. Sometimes constipation can develop as the stool won't move thru as easy with a bend.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Him right now

Ok no problem ! I ve googled and search a lot of posts about bends in some polys and in comparison his isn't as pronounced as others nor does it kink the way I ve seen in most which changes the direction the body sits and there's blatant noticeable twists to the body where as his just seems to look like a little hunch back.

Could always be worse. As long as you care for ur little endli should live out a normal life.

Yeh that's no problem - I actually just planted my 125 lastnight and my polys are loving the new greenery. I even caught my Endli sitting at the top of the tank on the blades of my amazon swords.

THe settup and hard scape of this tank has been a continuous project since I set this tank up. I'm
Never satisfied with its lay out and thus it changes every couple of weeks. It's never had plants in it really until now and most of the stone that I have in now I ve purchased it over time since day1 and swapped out other stones I had in as I found these stones were more appealing to me. My polys are the main focus of this tank and my cichlids are merely in my tank to give it action and life as we know polys can be quite chill or unseen when they want to be.

But my endli isn't goin anywhere IMG_2038.JPG
