Endlicheri Bichir and Clown Loaches

A fat 10" clown would most likely but if the endli attempts to eat one, both may kill themselves in the process but who in his right mind would dare mix loaches with their blades and a prized bichir at adult size together when there is risk?

What if they grow up together? I mean a shoal of 4-5 inch loaches with a 5 inch endli growing together. Do you think the endli would try to eat the loach then? I never use feeders in my tanks so as to reduce aggression levels in the tank.

The growth rates vary differently. Would a clown loach reach 10 inches by the time the endli reaches 16 inches and over? It takes several years for clown loaches to reach bulk size by 8 inches and more. The big difference alone should not suggest the combination. Fish are opportunistic. By human perception, some would think because they have grown together for some time, they would work out with each other very well but when one fish becomes hungry enough that it cannot satisfy its hunger, then does it have a choice other than to eat its tankmate?

I agree with lupin. Endlis are the most aggressive of bichir species and can grow up to 3' so it would not be a good idea to mix the two.
