Endlicheri Bichir

Hey guys so I recently bought a 4 inch endlicheri bichir and the markings on his body are very faint and light, they're not pitch black like normally how they're supposed to be, is it because my guy is still a juvenile like will it become darker as he grows?? Here's a few pics below

Your substrate is white bottom tank.... so that's why it is lighter. Choose a darker bottom

i suggest you watch the ''14 months bichir growth'' video from ''bryan la '' i think its called on youtube he shows the growth on his endlicheris + lapradeis i think it was , very cool to watch and he also shows the very big difference from the sand in the tank he had them in white sand = no markings , fully black sands = fully black bichirs , i think the best sand for markings is beige/brownish/red ISH color sand
