Hi, i have this endlicheri bichir that is inside my predator pond. All of the fishes inside are juveniles, about 10 cm. I actually had this endlicheri inside a 30 gallon tank because it hunts food VERY slowly. Other fishes would already be finishing all the food before he can even realize theres food. I would even have to put tilapia on a stick and sticking it in front of his mouth back when there used to be other fishes inside the 30 gal tank. Now ive transfered all the fishes inside the pond except for him because i worry he would starve to death. Just a few days ago, i had to transfer him into the pond as i really had to use the 30 gal tank to quarantine an oscar with ich. Unlike an albino bichir i have in the pond constantly moving around and always finding leftover food in between rocks, he constantly sits in one spot and rarely moves. I would get a long stick to feed him in the pond but he only accepts food every 2 days. And that is only if i wiggle it infront of him for 10 minutes. Is this normal? Could he be sick? Maybe endlicheri bichirs gets full easily?

I dont think so, hes bigger than the others and its usually the opposite from what i observe. I saw some people feeding their endlicheri on youtube and saw that the bichirs seem to be as bad as a hunter as my bichir. In those videos, most kept only bichirs in their tanks so it would be a problem for them. I guess i will have to stick to feeding my bichir with a wooden stick.:(

Seems like normal behaviour, I keep my bichirs with cichlids and theyre also very slow feeders. I made a cave with pvc pipes and used a T shape piece in the middle that I use as an opening for food. Just make sure that no other fish except your bichirs fit in that cave. Thats how I tackled this issue

It’s honestly nothing to worry to much about for the time being each individual fish is diff but most endlis r fat pigs. Not all but a lot all the ones iv had tend to eat more than the types iv had
