Ok I have a male dovii who's pretty placid he's about 7" I'm moving him into a 4x2 this weekend and wandered if he would get on with a 12" Endlicheri? I would keep another tank running just in case...
i wouldnt do that because of how aggressive doviis can get. I personally don't have a dovii (and will never get one) but i heard of how aggressive they can get
So not a good idea then, I saw some videos on youtube and this 16" dovii was ignoring this big marbled bichir.
I only wanted a tankmate because he's such a messy eater he likes to rip things up so I guess ill just have to keep netting debre out everytime he eats..
i've kept a 12" male dovii with a 13" Ornate and i've had no problems.
my buddy's 18" dovii had no problems with his 18" ornate either..
bichirs are thick skinned and can handle the beating..
might ruffle the fins a bit but the bichir will be fine.
I dont think I would try it. All 3 of my dovii are too agressive for tankmates. You may find one here and there that will allow tankmates, but IME the odds are not in your favor.

I wouldn't do it with the dovii, bit disagree with keeping cichlids only with cichlids. Ploys and cichlids mix well, none of my 50 large aggressive cichlids pay any attention to my poly's, mult tanks and mult polys. Cichlids don't like cichlids.
Have a paired couple female fh with male carpentis and when the ploys go into their territory they usually ignore them and when they want them gone the female will litterally push the poly out of her area , very nonaggressivly for an extremely terretorial female.
