UW! Go Huskies!
I'm sure there are some of you who current house your Rays with Endlis (Bichirs), any issues other than the potential bio-loads from the Bichirs? Any aggression or disk nipping by the bichirs or vice versa? Thanks.

When i had two motoro's around 4-5 inches and 1ft endlicherri it was mostly ok but the endli sore its arse one day and grabbed the disc of the motoro and pretty much flipped it on it's back, no lasting damage was done but there was a for a few weeks a mouth shaped mark on the disc.

I no longer have the endli or the motoro's. However i do have a fair few bichir's and the endli was the only one to see it's arse. See my vid here : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=t8NSEPLT-n0
The ray even covers most of the bichir's and they just ignore it completly. Think my endli was a one off.

sometimes it works sometimes it dosent. a couple weeks ago i would have said i had no problems but then out of the blue my bichir started chasing one of my rays and nipping at its feet. so needless to say the bichir had to go. its a chance you take when you mix them but there is a good possibility for failure here.

I would say you have a better chance with all the bichir types except ornates and weeksii. They seem to like biting.

I have Ornate and Weeksii both of which are really relaxed with the ray even when i had a smaller ray. Weeksii do have a bigger mouth so i guess could do more damage but mine's really not fussed by the ray. The ornate is the one im more warey of due to their normal agression compared to other bichirs but mines been ok with anything over half its size.

I've only got the one senegal which is starting to get to he 7-8 inch mark and it's not botherd the ray.

Personally i think it depends on the size of the ray if your rays to big to be remotly considered as food then you should be fine unless you have an agressive bichir.

I love bichir;s so think it'd be the ray that went if i had problems but so far it's been good.

I have a 10" poly, a 24" lapredi, and a 20" ornate with my stingrays. They all get along fine and feeding is never a competition.

For some reason I would think that the rays would hover over the bichirs and nibble on their tails or fins since bichirs seem to be stationary.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I would say that unless you are willing to risk coming home and noticing that your stingrays eyes have been eaten, don't place them with polypterus.

I just had an aggressive endli kill a small motoro today so there is my answer I'm pretty pissed right about now
