Is there a way how? Mine is kinda pale. Previous owner had it with white substrate, and now its in darker gravel in my tank. Color is adjusting, but it is not as dark as some of the picutes i see from MFK members. whats your secret? please fill me in. =)

thanks

Good diet helps alot and maturity

Hello,

it takes time ... the paleness will not change to deep contrasts over night.
What's about your tank? Plants? Bright light? Tankmates? (stressed bichirs are used to be a bit pale ...)

Greetings

Uwe

my tank is a 125er. I have fake plant in it right now since the algae kinda consumed my old set up so i got fed up with it. I have a couple of loaches in there, tinfoil barbs, and a datnoid in there. Nothing really bugs the bichir, and nothing seems to stress it out from my POV. Lighting is on about 10 hours a day.

He doesn't eat much either.. Its hard getting him to eat when the barbs end up eating everything. So i drop krill and peices of shrimp down at night when the lights are out so he could eat. sucks i dont see him when i try to feed him though =/ do you think that adds to the paleness also?

thanks in advance

Hey there

My Bichir is in a 125er. Planted with artificial ones with some places for the bichir to hide. Might get a bigger tube or log for it. the tank is occupied with loachs, tin foil bars, and a datnoid. Nothing really bugs it, so I dont think it's tankmates are stressing it. The tank is light about 10 hours a day on timer.

Also, the bichir hasnt been really eating during the day. Primary due to the barbs since they eat everything. I drop krill and peices of shrimp for the bichir at not. Such a shame i cant see him eat when i feed him. Anyhow, could that also add to the paleness?

Thanks in advance
