what are the problems with feeding P's live feeders?

ive went from blood worms to brine shrimp. then onto live small feeders.
i've seen healthy coloration and good activity along with great appettites.

so thanx in advance!

the nutritional value of goldfish and rosy reds is pretty low and if you feed your P's too many they can develop liver or kidney problems I think. There are other types of live feeder fish that are better though.

not to mention they are kept in the worst condition of any fish there are aka they have lots of sicknesses. I have to admit I feed feeders from time to time but not as a main food. Try silver sides or other frozen food from your LFS or even grocery store.

IMO feeder are just entertain people to watch them eat. There are way to many healthy diet out there, why feed feeder?

Feeder will bring disease to your piranha, it may look healthy, it may bring out some color, it may look good, but it's not healthy for them in long term.

If you notice that some big rhomb have those disease call "hole in the head" it's from feeding to much feeder and live food.

it would be like eating taco bell everday, its delicious but has too much of the wrong things in it, and not enough of the right. keep your P.s on a mixed diet, shrimp beefheart tilapia etc, and an occasional feeder wont kill them

i would go feeders3 - 4 times a month ( once a week or so ) to keep the piranhas natural instnict to hunt its prey instead of just beging lazy. thats what i do i encurage it
