hi

i thinking of buying a 5x2x2 ft tank , i was thinking about stcoking a asain arowana , 2 retics ray and lima catfish or discus and would a fluval fx5 be enough

and get yourself and nice airstone or airpad .oxygen make's a big difference in filtration

Fx5 should do for a 5x2x2'

( i would persinaly go with two Fx5's and have one full of Bio Media and fill the other one half and half with Chem' and Med' media , or one Fx5 and one smaller exterrnal filter and do the same with the media ) , or maybe a small sump would work great too .

Pretty small tank for those fish. A tank that size I'd suggest the discus.

While redundant filtration is good, putting 2 FX5s on a 120g tank is borderline idiotic. Why not go with two more reasonably size filters, two ehiem 2217s would be an excellent choice and cost far less then two FX5s :screwy:

the fish won't be there for life , it will be a growout tank., could one fx5 and the filter what came with the tank work.

yes it'll work, just keep up the weekly waterchanges 30-40% and always clean out your sponge pads at least once a week. then your FX5 is suffice.

5x2x2 is not 120Gal , and i only said having two Fx5's on the tank is really is depending on what he decides to stock it with .

Ditto , Why not an AC110 and an eheim 2217 :screwy: People always go for the FX5 if I went that route id have just 1 and an ac110 or an emp 400 whatever.
