Okay so I will be getting a 55 gallon soon for a texas or flowerhorn (grow them up and see which one I decide to keep), and with the 55 I'm being given it's coming with an AQ110, I already have an AQ110 from my old 90 gallon as well as an Eheim 2026 and an AQ 50.

Would putting the 2 AQ110s and the Eheim Pro ii 2026 on the 55 be too much filtration for a 55 with basically one cichlid in it and perhaps dithers?

Just curious

Id say why not. But it would be a lot of filtration. I have a 90 gallon with a aqua clear 70 and just a sponge filter and the water is crystal clear. and thats with only 4 fish so
Can never have to much

Should be fine. I don't think you can ever have too much filtration.

Yeah I hear ya, I figure I'm just saving up my filters for the day I can set up the 125 I'm being given too (not enough room sadly), so that I can have the 2 AC110s on the outside and the spraybar in the middle from the 2026. That way I'd still have an AC50 to use on the 55 (or my 37 if I decide to set it up again - though I sincerely hate how tall it is, might toss it and buy a 29 one day haha)

But anyways!

Quick stocking question even though this is about filtration, would either of those two fish (flowerhorn or true texas - looking for a male of either) be a better fit for the 55? I was thinking about raising the two together and once they mature deciding on one to keep.

There is a point when overdoing your filtration just becomes silly. If you have a 55g with 2-3 fish and you have 3 HOBs and 2 canister filters, I'd call that a waste of money. If you want more current, add a Koralia powerhead, it's cheaper :)

What kind of fish? My cichlids love more flow and i think most fish do other than like angels and discus and such
