Enough Filtration???

hi mfk, i have a 490L tank - measures 69"x18"x24" and i have a tetra tec 1200, fluval 105, 2x eheim aquaball 2210's

is this enough filtration?

your probably reading this and thinking ????? - its temporary till my 7'x3'x2.5' arrives (this will be run by a large sump) i used my old filters plus bougfht a few cheap second hand filters while i wait for my big tank.

you may have enough water circulation, but its hard to know from just that info if you have enough filtration... what are the parameters on your water quality? whats stocked in the tank?

stock is as follows - clown knife 13", delhezi birchir 11" del birchir 7", endli birchir 11", 2 severums 4", 2 geophagus steidenacheri 2.5", giraffe cat 9", lima cat 7", 2 motoros 4" disc and 6" disc. - water params not so good gonna go get test kit tomorrow - never ever had one before!!!!! - i had the fish in a 3ft tank with the fluval 105 and fluval U3 filtering - moved water from old tank and fluval 105 plus gravel - ran the ex1200 and two eheims on the tank - water has been smelling a bit so i did 50% water change twice in last 5 days. still smells! i think there is not enough bacteria in filter media yet? i have not fed fish for 3 days.

i deserve to be flamed for this i know!

okay, you have a lot of rather large fish for that tank... and if your filters do not have BB colonized in them yet, then you may be in trouble, especially the motoro. keep up the 50% water changes at the same rate.

I saw your youtube videos, I'm assuming the second one is the tank in question. looks crowded, but still good. Im happy to see live plants there.

nice vids but that video is of 4" tank, wheres the 5.9"??? get on it lungfish!!

With that many fish, you would probably do good to do a 50% daily water change with Prime.

no the vids are from my two old tanks - the pups were in a small tank 2.5ft and the rest in a 3.5ft - since then ive put them all in the 5'9" tank and put 5 small dats in the 3.5' - this is where my problems have started - my two older tanks were fine and were both over filtered with plenty of plants. i have added some bacterlife to the large tank now and am still not feeding the fish- will be checking water params daily

if i change the water wont i lose some of my bacteria i just put in?
