I am setting up a 125 gal aquarium for when I get my Hystrix. I am wondering what you guys think of the filtration setup Im going with. I will be running an Eshopps wd200cs, sump (2) Eshopps pf800 overflow boxes, ran buy a danner mag supreme 1200 pump, (2) koralia evo 1400. I will be keeping (2) marineland stealth 250w heaters in the sump as well as my sensors so there is no risk of burning my ray and less equipment inside the aquarium. I will eventually be building a 8X4X2 plywoood aquarium but I am just wondering what anyone thought about the setup for now. Thanks

I would recommend u use a fx 5 for bio filter and and some strong power heads for flow...

I understand that the fx5 is a grat filter, my question was. "Will it be enough filtration/ ", not what filter to use. thanks

i use a 90 gal sump with a drip tower with 3 drawers full of media, as well as a fluval 405 (extra for new tank setups) and a sponge filter for the same reason inside the sump.
like said, think of how much you'd guess you need, and multiply it (double, triple, or whatnot).

the more, the better.
filtration overkill is much better than underkill.

For a 125 that's overkill IMO. My Hystrix pair have their tank filtered by 2xEmperor 400 + 1xEmperor 280.

But that is with a wealth of knowledge on how not to get it wrong, years of experience and a brilliant understanding of water chemistry....anything less then go for overkill. Much more than filtration though is a simple setup for water changes, make it so simple that you have no excuse not to do them weekly.

if your sump is set up right why would you even need the fx5
