I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to building tanks with pond armor and in my research have found DEVOE. they make a product call bar rust and it is used for potable water tanks. my question is if its safe for potable water is it also fish safe?

Anything safe for potable water tanks is fish safe.
Is this stuff much cheaper than pond armour?

I saw your build thread when I was planning my ply build a couple of years ago and it really helped so cheers :)

Not for potable ues,read this.[h=3]Product Description[/h]Devoe Bar-Rust 235 Multi-Purpose Epoxy Coating is a high performance, multi-purpose, surface tolerant, two-component chemically-cured epoxy semi-gloss coating.
For use on properly perpared steel or masonry surfaces including immersion (non-potable water) service. Ideal for structural steel, piping, storage tank exteriors, machinery, and equipment in petroleum refineries, pulp and paper mills, chemically and fertiliser plants, and sewage treatment plantst.

Well this thread died...

I was hoping to hear some first hand experience with Devoe Bar-Rust since I can get it locally, it's cheaper, and it should be easier to apply than pond armor.

By the way, 20062008, the OP was referring to Bar-Rust 233H, not 235. Perfectly safe product for our use. How well does it work is the question here.

Typical Uses: BAR-RUST 233H is a true universal coating forsteel or masonry surfaces in immersion and non-immersion service. Also for concrete floors, interior drywall, plaster and wood.
Ideal for structural steel, piping, tanks, and equipment in chemical,
fertilizer, and power plants, refineries, pulp and paper mills,
mining operations, potable water transfer and storage, water and
sewage treatment plants. Can also be used in hard service areas
of food processing plants, breweries, dairies, correctional facilities,
schools, and hospitals.

Looks like a perfect product to line a DIY plywood tank. If nobody reports back, I guess I will buy some and test it out. If it looks good, I may use it on my tank build. Of course, if I do, I will let you know how it works out.

Sorry for the dub. I can't edit my post.

The OP wanted to know if it was safe, I want to know how well it works.
