epoxy shield garage floor epoxy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got to thinking about that, and if they sell a small enough container...I would make a small plywood box and try it...because i really cant say for sure!!

Just because it's "waterbased and environmently friendly" dosen't mean that it's non toxic to fish when used in a tank, remember in the wild they aren't exposed to it 100% of the time

I would email the company to ask them and if they say it's OK and I then would make a test tank but with the other epoxies available why would you want to use this stuff?

True I would be cautious when using this...and I doubt that this company could tell you if it's toxic to fish. Your best bet is to go with something proven like West Systems Epoxy and such. Probably a few more bucks, but how much do your fish cost eh?

My 2 cents.

Use "bondo" figerglass resin, its cheap and easy to use, its in the automotive department of most hardware stores, its 27 bucks a gallon, takes a couple gallons to put almost a quarter inch layer on your tank, it also adds to the structural integrity of your tank

Dont use the rhino lining or marhide bed liner, ive seen posts where there is adhesion problmes with with silocone, no such problems with bondo

bondo is clear, so make sure you paint the back of your tank first

actually the regular fiberglass resin has a yellowish tint to it, the epoxy resin is clear though.
If fiberglass resin is non-toxic thats what i would go with. You could lay fiberglass mat or cloth in to reinforce the structure as well.

good call ruxpin
didn't really think about that
is fiberglass def non toxic

Thanks for all the input guys
bought my plywood today and my glass is in i just have to pick it up
will post some pics of my progress along the way

No Problem Mike, just dot done making mine, Rallysman your right it is yellowish, i used that cloth in the corners. I had never used it before and it got kinda messy and looks clumpy, actually had to get my glass recut cause the cloth was so uneven i didnt trust it.

mike make sure you do the bondo outside, do not do it in the house or basement, its extremely toxic and nasty. i did a small coat in my basement that stunk the hole house up, wife had to stay at her moms the rest of the day! she was not too happy

i built a little coffin on my deck out of cardboard and put a heater in it, did all my bondo out there

chek out my link below to see all my mistakes, hopefully yours goes smoother

I used that stuff on my first atempt of sealing my tank. By the 4th day it had started to leak so I drained it and it had water bubbles under the epoxy. I had to strip it all off my tank and start over and it sucks really bad. I would say it was the worst thing I did in building my tank and because of it Im still not finished.
