More information would be useful. I wouldn't use Epoxy on a glass tank... but you haven't really told us the nature of the leak, what kind of epoxy, or what kind of tank we're discussing.

were talking about a 100 gal tank small leak nuthing big just didnt want to wast time on silicone and not have to pull off all of the silicone and the epoxydevcon high strength 5 min epoxy

Epoxy won't stick to the existing silicone any better than silicone will, strip the silicone off the inside and do it properly, it's the only way.
