I'd like to solicit some recommendations for lighting, filtration and heating products for a diy project with a home made plexiglass top. What brands work well with a small setup and are easy to install?

Also, is there anything out there on how to wire these things together so that only one cord has to be run to an outlet. I'm the one doing the wall mounted aquarium and don't want a mess of cords, of course I don't want to get electrocuted either...

GFCI's can be had for ten bucks at Harbor Freight. When they are on sale, they are seven dollars.

Wire the lights in parallel, other wise they may not be able to draw enough voltage. In series, there is a voltage drop each time the current goes through a light. In parallel, they get the same voltage.

Thanks chompers, I'll keep that in mind about the lights. I was hoping for some input on wiring together all of the accessories into one power supply though. Surely this is something that is common, I can't imagine everyone wants to have 3 or 4 power cords running out of their aquarium.

In my stand I actually wired a few outlets inside of it. So everything that I run just plugs into the repecticals inside the stand.

What size tank do you have or getting? Just to help you on the filtration and heating.

I would really try to stay away from plexiglass tops because they in time warp and then look like crap, let alone get scratched fairly easy, if you can just go with some glass tops.

Yep, I have some outlets in my stands too. Power strips are my solution for my other tanks.
