15 inches, hangs out in the front of the tank looks at you when you look at him friendly with the other fish fit in very nice
Very personable fish. Kind of dumb and blind...but very interesting. I just saw mine smallest out of my 4 eat a huge rosey red. It was so cool. It jolted at this rosey red and swallowed him whole. It took awhile to swallow though. The rope was about 7 inches and I can still see a huge lump in his belly.
They are pretty cool. some seem ultra shy though
I have 3, one is always out, one comes out occasionally, the other only comes out for food. very odd
supposively they are more active in groups... I haven't noticed that though
they can eat things that you wouldn't think they could. big mouths fo ra skinny fish lol

They are really dumb and they like to hang out in packs. 15" is a whopper! My biggest female is about 14" right now. Try hand feeding yours earthworms occasionally. You can see how much suction power Polypterids have when hunting for prey by doing this! Good luck with your Rope!
I've got one in a 55, eats anything voraciously, extremely active fish, always swimming in the front of the tank, up and down. Doesn't mess with the satanoperca, the spiney eel, the plecos, or even the cories and loaches.

Speaking of hand feeding....I bought some veggie wafers for my plecos and saw one of my ropes chomping on one on his way back to his log. Didn't think he was going to like the veggies. But anyways, I have been dropping a couple in their home for a couple of days and all of them seem to love them. I finally got one to snatch it out of my hand...kind of scared me at first...he lunged at it extremely fast. They seem like they are starting to trust me. But I totally agree that they need other ropes. I had only one for about a month and he never came out until the lights went out. I got 3 more and they shunned him for awhile, but now they are one big happy family, currently battling ICH!!!!!! But that is a whole different thread.
