so i got an 18in endli about a month ago i havent seen him eat yet and im guessing he hasnt....ive tried tilapia, shrimp, massivore, night crawlers, and feeders ( alll which he had eaten before) so my question is there anything you guys would suggest trying? and how to get him to eat? ive had the lights of except for feeding time which is like an hour at most.....thanks guys hope you can help

Tankmates?

pbass, aro he can get food if he wants it lands right in front of him and he does nothing

he is the biggest in the tank to so hes not scared

i was wondering if my ornate was eating at all and all of a sudden after he ate my paraya he stuffs himself everytime on market shrimp and tilapia. don't ask me what did it cause i dont know. before that all i could get him to eat was sinking krill pellets.

yeah he almost asks weird he does alot of burrowing in the sand when i look at him and isnt too active....i dont think he is fully settled but its been a lil more than a month

My first question would be, did you read the sticky "If your bichir won't eat" ? My second question was going to be what Anne asked, any tankmates? Is the food disappearing? Make sure you're feeding some with the lights out! My bichirs rarely feed when the lights are on, but become very active (constantly moving-searching) once they're in the dark! Also they sometimes go on a hunger strike for no apparent reason, but it rarely lasts. Just keep up with water changes and removing uneaten food and I'm sure your bichir will be fine! :)

yeah i read that and i put food in then turn the lights out but he just stays behind his driftwood

I obviously was slow on my first response! Your pbass and aro are sight predators and relatively fast. While bichirs are primarily scent hunters and somewhat slow. I would therefore reccommend feeding your other two with the lights on and then saving some for your bichir after you turn off the lights. This should help, and you should be able to then tell whose eating how much.

thats how it goes cause they get full then i put more in and they are too fat to move so dont eat and the other food sinks and i wait like 1 1/2 hours until my water is dirty then do a w/c and take out extra food
