My girlfriend and I did a substrate change with the fish still in the tank and now the water is very cloudy and dark. I advised her that I didnt think it was good to change out the substrate with the fish still in the water but, she has more experience in aquariums than I do so I agreed. The substrate we used was colorquartz T grade. Now I look at it I am not so sure it was a good idea. Do you guys think it will affect the fish? I am new to this hobby so I have no idea but i cant imagine the cloudy water being good for the fish. :(

yeah the substrate was rinsed

i wouldn't worry too much then. I have changed from gravel to sand and left all my fish in there. it was cloudy for about a day. looked nasty. Did she vacuum the original substrate before she changed it tho?

yeah about 98% of it

We are now in the process of doing a WC to clear some of it out.

you should be fine then honestly. you made me think and then i reazlized i just did another substrate change from river rock to sand. it stirred up a lot more that the last time i did one. don't stress to much. i couldn't see my fish for a few hours but they were fine as long as the filters were running. you can also change some more water if you really want. but you don't have to
