i...errr...seem to have found an indian python in my posession. dont ask me, i really have no idea how.
its an 08 female, but its weeeennnny, like 2ft tops.
any chance this is a dwarf??? its an amazing feeder, in really good health, feisty but lovely once it realises ur not put off. so the usual.

any ideas on why shes so small?
x

Pics! :D and maybe she was underfed? It's possible she is a dwarf but if I am correct most Dwarf species come from smaller islands off of the mainland.. hmm. Well you'll just have to wait and see. Also what is the story? and Pictures are seriously needed. :D

dont have pics and prob wont for a while, uploading is too much hassle. lol ppl should know im useless with pics.

thats all i know about her. shes always been a great feeder, always been healthy, is 3 years old and female lol. just cant figure out why shes so small.

no because that would mean getting a male lol. i got this at an amazingly stupid price. they go for around 500 here and i got her for 50 (i think thats how i ended up with her) and thats for a normal, not that i have ever heard of any other morph of indian. soooo, if this is a dwarf i dont even know where to start on a price range for it.
it doesnt phase me either way if shes dwarf or HUGE, (although iv never wanted indian, it would b nice to see one thats not obese) its just something we all were questioning earlier when my mate picked her up.

Some snakes just grow slower than others, I'm sure with that with plenty of food and tlc that she will bulk up eventually

At that age, I would almost bet she was underfed. Nothing really to it...she may always be small.

True Indian Pythons are endangered and there are no "dwarf" morphs. They're either Indian or their not. Many people mix up Indians with Burms, but I trust Chloe enough to know what she has.

I'm not sure about the UK but the US keeps rediculously strict guidelines and standards on Indian Pythons. They're not allowed to be imported and captive hatchlings are not allowed to be sold out of the state they're born in. Colorado is the only state, to my knowledge, that's allowed a breeding stock of Indians.

If she's as old as you think, I'd keep her on a standard weekly feed. Treat her just like a Burm.

yeah I would bet above all else it was underfed, possibly an incubation error caused stunted growth but more likely is that it was neglected.

If you're having trouble uploading pictures, you could email them to me and I could post them if you'd like.

Indian Pythons are an ESA listed animal in the US.......

They can be bought or sold across State lines with a valid CBW Permit, which isn't that hard to get........

India/Pakistan hasn't been Exporting Wildlife since the 70's, so that's the reason new blood isn't brought in.......

Anyone in any State can possess or breed Indians, with or without a CBW Permit.......They can't sell them across State lines if they don't have the Permit, however, they can "gift" them all day long.....
