It's been just under two years since my 10" red wolf passed away. Out of all the fish I've owned I miss that guy the most. I'm in the market for another one but I see there are several subspecies now. Is there a page or post someone can point me towards explaining the different ones? I'm familiar with the Ery ery and Ery peru. These guys have also jumped way up in price!

I don't know about any pages with all the info but as far as erys go they are pretty similar in size, they say Perus get a little thicker and larger, while white tips which I think are kesseleri get the same as norm ery, but some say more aggressive

Sounds like you had a nice wolf, I love mine when he goes I'm gonna feel like I lost a cat haha have had him for over a year now and has gone from 3.5 to around 8-9 inch. I can't imagine my tank without a wolf haha

I read something saying the Peru is being referred to as Purple wolves, is that true?

He was a beast. I got him at 3" and had him for just under 6 years.

For all the more "rare" and newer erys that have started popping up, I still like the coloration and fin shape of the ery ery the best. I do like the bluish face on the sp. Peru, but I really like the red on a nicely colored up ery ery.

Yep thats another name, I've also seen them labeled as shortfin erythrinus

Yeah he looks nice! And mean to small fish and fingers haha mine is an ery ery but has the blue face, he's never been red but a bright light orange, dark sand or not

He's fat and lazy nowadays. I really need to make him a photo thread never have since he was already grown out by the time I joined.

Mine had a blueish face when he was younger. I have tons of videos and pics in my sig, even when he was bigger he still stayed active.
