You could be right, it is hot pink. If it is not dyed, it certainly is not run of the mill colored. At worst, you have a very unique con.

very true, and thank you.
im going to breed it with a pink con, and if any come out black, that will probably mean that it is. ill cross back one of the fry to the erythristic parent, and 3/4 of the batch of fry come out red, ill know.

If it is a legit color morph... it is likely it will follow Mendelian Genetics breeding pattern... which is the pattern that Albino, Leucistic and many other color morphs follow...

If this is true... Then I would breed it with a standard Con, not a Pink (Leucistic)... The reason being it is possible that any fish that is an erythrophore (red) and Leucistic (pink)... will be just pink... Since Leucism 'turns off' the genes that produce color.

Once you establish that it is a color morph and it does follow Mendelian Genetics... then feel free to cross it with whatever color Convict you wish to explore, but when trying to initially uncover what it is an how it works, I suggest not intermixing morphs as it may mislead you...

i thought pink cons were xanthic? which, from what im told, only coaxes the black pigment, and no other. correct me of i am wrong.

also, sorry for the extremely late reply, been busy. :)
