I bought 3 little red crabs on a whim (i usually stick with stuff to put in with the arrowana, stingray, everybody) but they're so neat I had to have them too. I put them in my feeder-fish tank and they've been living with the dinners-to-be quite peacefully. Problem is they like to climb up the heater cord, and sneak their way around top. After a few times of coming home to find them roaming around out side the tank (they dont go too far) I've taken the heater out. Its summer so the temp is probably ok, but what could I do in the cooler months? Could they climb the airline tubing too? The wire lid is like a gymnasium for them, and they found a way to squeeze under that too. Should I put them in their own little habitat? If so what sort of set up do they prefer?.... they're mischeivious, but so damn cute, I don't want to lose them...

And I thought you always had them... Just kidding!

cute arkmann :) but yeah, its one of those reptile tops. and if they like air hosing too then i guess they need their own place. is just a filter and a light fine for them? maybe some "land" on one end of the tank, and nothing dangling in there. word is they like the brakish water

i brought a red fiddler crab home one night and was working the next day when he called me freaking out over a "mutant tarantula with claws" we have house spiders but i never kill them and he hates that. i told him to put a cup over it and i'll look at it after work. after 10 more phone calls i left work early to find it was my crab, half dried up and covered in dog hair. i threw it back in the tank and it did fine until it climbed out agail and dried up behind the fridge.

Story time again, i got one along time ago, he tried to climb out once but i caught him in time. Next time my father calls. "did u have a crab?" I replied "yes" and my father proceeds to tell me hes found him dead near the front door lol. I guess he was on his way out. I tried again after completely blocking the tank off. He climbed but couldnt get out and just randomly died. It was weird.

i like stories... its obvious that they hold secret meetings behind the fridge to discuss an escape route. they must collect all that dog hair to make an afghan as well.... im not sure what purpose that will serve, i can only guess they will go in the guise of a dust bunny. clever little f*ers.
