To answer your question, it is a Carpinte. But Not the "Escondido strain"

Carpinte "escondido"

Firstly just so ya know, 'Escondido Carpintis' is a type of green texas.

From what I can tell, yours is a green texas (Herichthys carpintis). Not sure if it's a Herchithys carpintis var. Escondido tho. But seems like it is. The none-blue at the bottom kinda throws me off. Could be the lighting tho. Is it entirely blue, or does it look exactly like it is in the picture as it does in reality?

Just curious, why would you worry about a fertility issue? Escondido is a locational variety, and have nothing to do with fertility. And green, is just the generic term. If a hybrid, such as "red" then I "might" worry about fertility.

Above is a Herichthys carpintus "chairel", chairel refers to the location the parents/ancestors were collected in Mexico.

^. As above. All the different varieties such as Chairel, Vontehillo, Escondido or whatever are just local variations. They're all Green Texas, and they're all fertile.

'Texas' refers to Herichthys cyanoguttatum, a different species.

The Red Texas (both conventional and home-made mixes) are a hybrid of either the texas or green texas and some other species of CA cichlid to produce a hybrid that has both pearlings and is red. This is where infertility could occur.

The Blue Texas is less of a name of a specific species, but rather of any Herichthys that's... blue. So kinda like Red Texas, except it is commonly used to refer to both the texas and green texas because they both can be blue.

In fact, many super green texans like to shift colors between blue and green, depending on its mood.

why i asking the " Escondido Carpintis or Green texas " can he fertile ?
because i have a female RT , want to pair with him!!!
