That's odd, as the lack of wormy markings on the face is very circumspect.
Here's my old female Escondido for comparison. And you can Google carpintis "Escondido" to get a lot of photos (granted, a lot aren't Escondidos) that show the wormy markings. Like Aquamojo's.
I haven't known Ken to sell fish under a different name. Maybe ask him if he bred them himself or just bought the fry, someone could have sold him a bunch of small "Escondido's" that were just carpintis.
