The first step in a project I've been wanting to do for a while now.

The goal being to produce something like this....

mother of fry showing normal (non-breeding) coloration.

I wanted an sb Green Texas that was not only actually green, but had stunning pearls too....not to mention fewer (none actually) of the fertility problems that plague SRT breeders. The main reason is purely aethstetic. I just prefer the blue/green pearls on dark background of the greens. At some point I may introduce sb FH and or killin to this line...not clear on that yet.

I do have an sb FH that would be outstanding for the job...almost free of markings (flowers) but awesome color and his pearls cover his entire body. Him paired to a female from this batch would be the bombdiggity.

Nice, keep us updated!

Very nice...and but of course I will keep you updated.

Maybe it would be better to cross him to a normal/pure Escondido, the resulting offspring crossed to fry I have now....um yeah. Short body fry produced by FH X Escondido bred to sb fry from the batch I have now....omg, think I jus peed a lil.

Hmm, could be accomplished by this time next year.

This question is for big_one...

The placement/size/shape of my fh's pearls are quite different than that of a green texas, am I correct in assuming that if crossed to GT his genes will "pull" the pearls into larger/more worm like shapes?

Saw your Aqua-Bid sale for that guy a few days ago.

Yep, I list him every once in a while. I'd like to breed him to something before he goes but if I dont thats alright too.

Eventually (sooner rather than later) most if not all of the hybrids in my tanks will be those bred by me, and all of them will be more than 50% green texas, Titus sort of doesnt fit into that longterm plan very well. Lets put it this way, I dont neccesarily need him to create my sb texas.

Mini update,
They have been bringing the fry out more and more...I got a good look tonight before the parents moved them away from the side of the tank. I'm about 80% certain some are short bodies. :headbang2
