Nice looking fish...when I get back into cichlids one of these days that will deffinatly be on the top of my list.

I see them sold as "green texas" sometimes. They are awsome looking cichlids. When I have more atank space I am going to look into those. I could just imagine what one would look like a 12+".
 
There's a distinct difference in the pearling between a regular Texas cichlid and a H. carpintis 'Escondido'.

Beautiful specimen and one of my favorite cichlids. Hope you don't mind but, I played with one of your pics. I used to like putting mine in black-back tanks to highlight their pearls. It's not exactly the same due to lighting changes. But, you'll get the idea.
