Hey guys. I'm going to be using an Eshopps PF-1200 HOB overflow box on my 125 when i set it up. The tank will be in my bedroom, and the box is for my 30 gallon W/D. My friend recently set one up and it is pretty loud, so much so that i think it would drive me insane in my bedroom.

Ive been trying to figure out the best way to quiet it without greatly increasing the risk of a massive flood. It seems every site Ive found tells me to use a different device, ranging from a ball valve to increase the water level in the external box (seems like a dangerous idea) to a mini durso standpipe, or a hofer gurgle buster.

If any of you guys have any suggestions or ideas, please share them. I was so happy to get my W/D done and my overflow box in the mail, then when i heard my friends, I just couldn't believe how loud it was. Its gonna have an FX5 and 2 AC110s as well, but i didn't spend 3 days and $150 or so dollars building my W/D to not use it because of noise. And i want too over-filter the s*** out of it.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Yeah Google, DIY PVC Overflow and build one yourself for a lot cheaper and less noise.

I know about the DIY overflows but it doesn't help me know when i already have my overflow box. Plus I'd like to avoid 4 feet of ugly PVC pipe in my tank.
