I have a group of these guys growing out in a 100 gallon tank. Right now they are pretty small and because of the tank size they seem a bit skiddish. Can someone suggest a nice tank mate that isn't overly aggressive to add? Right now I have them in fresh water and will be slowly adding salt over a period of time to reach the proper salt content. I am feeding them mostly spirulina and veggie pellets so any feeding, tankmate etc... ideas are welcome, thanks. Also I really like these fish, they seem like they will be very mellow so no aggressive tankmate ideas.

I am planning to get some marine salt and a hydrometer and gradually start raising the saltlinity but my source has informed me that these fish will do well in straight fresh water but thats not what I'm getting through doing online research. Doesn't appear to be that much info on this fish so I am hoping someone will chime in here.

Also wondering if a couple Monos would make good tankmates for these guys. There appears to be 2 types of Mono's unless I am mistaking. Do both have the same Temperment?

I don't know anything about the fish you have, but I had a bad experience with monos being agressive. That's just my experience though.

I think I will just get a few Etroplus Mac. ( Orange Chromide) for tankmates. I just need to find some first. The Greens are doing very well in their tank but seem a bit skidish right now but are getting more outgoing everyday.

I have a pair of them that have been full fresh to brackish and back with no noticeable change either way. They aren't your typical outgoing cichlid and can be pretty skittish sometimes. I'd guess your issue is just the fact that they are new to the tank and are getting accustomed to things. Make sure to have driftwood or rock caves for them, they do like to hide on occasion when small. I have mine in with a large school of clown loaches, tor and a tinfoil barb.

Orange chromides go perfectly with them though and make great target fish.

Thanks all of my research supports what you just said. Are the Orange just as skiddish as the greens? They aren't as bad as they were when I first got them so I guess they are improving.
