I have a 6'x2'x2' tank made from 10mm glass what would happen if i removed the glass cross bracing on the top? it is held on by big blobs of silicone i was thinking of removing it so i can fit a large piece of wood . Any advice from someone who has tried this would be great.

im pretty sure you would end up with a huge puddle on your floor. the brace is there to prevent bowing and having a seam split

It might work if you brace teh tank with ratcheting tie downs first. Then remove the brace. Place the wood put the brace back.

it has braces that run along the front and back of the tank at water level they are 5' long and 3" wide x 10mm and it has 4 cross braces that are 3" wide by 2' x 10mm

Yeah don't do it bro. I have a tank that's simular dimensions excpt only 18 wide I believe. it also has a large glass brace in the middle. I cut it out to place rocks and wood in the tank so I didn't break it. Well without thinking (thc reasons) I put the brace back on the tank but didn't silicone it back in place. Then proceeded to fill the tank. Well when it was full I noticed deflection so I measured it and it was 1/8" on front and 1/8" on back so 1/4" total. I decided to see what it'd do and a couple hrs later I went down stairs and it was leaking pretty bad 3/4 of the way up the tank in one spot. So I drained it. You wanted to know what would happen. So there ya go...hope this helps
