We're going to more this to a little better location :D.

Ok.

Perca fluviatilis... http://www.tdvan.freeserve.co.uk/Perch Details.htm

The American ;) perch I've kept, I grew from fingerlings or smaller, so when they got to be your size they were perfectly happy with the usual raw fish, worms, a little beef heart, chicken livers, & market shrimp.

They are fun to keep, but need some space since they like to swim (not happy in a tall tank, they like long ones) you would be in the market for a 5ft to 6ft long tank or a pond for a couple of them.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do,

Dr Joe

hi thanks for the info, yes the one in the pic is 1lb2oz but that was the only one i got a pic of.
ive decided to get a long tank and keep perch and for food i was going to use small live minnows, roach or rudd could this work?

I haven't kept any Perca, so these are just general observations.

As a rule it's best to start with young fish; they seem to adapt to captivity better. I don't know if there's a minimum size limit on perch in your area, but if not, try to get 2-4" fish rather than whoppers. They'll grow to full size before you know it!

Live foods, especially live fish, are risky. They may carry parasites or diseases, which are nearly nonexistent with frozen/thawed foods or pellets.
