Got to put down one of my oscars... got him sick, he's just gotten worse, looks like he's in way too much pain... you get the idea. No chance of coming back, that's for sure.

So, clove oil and vodka? Clove oil to put him out and vodka to kill him? Or just more clove oil and kill him with that?

Man, at least the other one doesn't have it... :)

Man, I'm sorry. I haven't had to do it, but I hear many say to put it in a bowl in the freezer. The fish's organs just slow down to a point that they stop. Not supposed to feel anything. Basically, they just go to sleep. Not how I would want to go, but now that I think about it, I can't think of too many ways I DO want to go!

I've always heard that clove oil is the best, most humane method. No need for vodka, the clove oil will do it on it's own. Not sure what the ratio is though.

Sorry about your O art.

I can't remember what it is but there is a thread that talks about this. I think its the clove oil as being the most humane way to go. Other people had also mentioned decapitation:eek: Sorry that you have to go through this. I am sure you will get a lot of feed back on this.

I have heard freezing is inhumane for several reasons. :(

Thanks. I heard you clove oil will just knock it out, and vodka killing it, but clove oil will also kill it in a large dose... only problem, i don't how large this dose is :irked:

Thanks for your reply.

I just reciently put down my dwarf puffer. One mistake I did...Make sure to get a small cup and shake up some tank water with the clove oil first before adding it in. Otherwise the oil just sits on top of the water. I only used a couple of drops for the puff...knocked him right out.

Best of luck to you

thats how i do it-they dont suffer

I also use the freezer method when I have to. I would say that they don't have time to suffer due to their metabolism slowing down fast. Is this a wrong assumption?

I've read it is "unacceptable" on several occasions because of gills crystalizing and several other factors? I already bought the clove oil anyways.
