My breeding pair of Paraneetroplus cf. fenestratus 'Lago Catemaco' have been exemplary over the last four years. They have bred probably 20 times and for the most part, all has been well. In fact, the video of this pair that I put up a few days ago shows an idyllic scene of compatibility and purpose. Well after I took the first video, something happened. A disagreement of some sort I suppose. They have had their minor squabbles in the past but nothing of this magnitude. I'll let the video speak for itself. At the risk of being overly dramatic, it has more impact if you watch the first video first, since the second video was taken minutes after that.

Wow, what on earth happened to that dysfunctional family? And all the neighbourhood gets caught in th middle of it.

That Catemaco male is impressive!

Oops! Forgot that in the disclaimer. The spin cycle on a washer has nothing on them:nilly:

Yes, that was quite a turbulent scene. Actually, in the midst of the battle, the male had the presence of mind to deflect the 'bocourti', who was wanting to snack on the 'caviar'.
And yes, he's quite the specimen (and he seems to know it). But the female's pretty feisty herself.

that is quite a show! :-)

Nice pair. Looks like the only thing they agreed on was chasing the others away and which way to spin.
