When I was in Jamaica this last summer for my honeymoon my wife and I were walking on the beach and I saw a ray in the water. It had a short little stubby tail and I was like, "hun, I'm gonna touch it." I put my hand out to touch it and it came closer to me as if it wasn't afraid so I touched it.

BAMMMMM!!! That sucker shocked me so bad. My whole arm tingled forever. That was a wierd experience.

I didn't even know electric rays existed, but I looked them up when I got home and sure enough they do.....the large species can shock up to 220 volts!!!!!

See my new avatar........that is what I touched except it was only about 10 to 12 inches.

I'm guessing thats a no. Unless your a Greek woman....then yes... :D JK

Thanks for that info, that was good to read.

My buddy was shocked by one last summer. He was playing football on the sandbar with some friends when he saw it. He scooped up a bunch of sand and the ray to move it out of the way when he got tagged. He said just what you said, that his arms were tingly for awhile!

Sweet! Nature owned you! LOL

The same night I saw two ladies run out of the water screaming. That'd be jelly fish....now those two got owned.

but neva a ray well played

When i went for my diving licence our instructor guy made the 3 of us all touch one just to know what it feels like as there are alot in my area. It feels like touching an electric fence, not that bad but would suck if you werent expecting it.
